NSW seek Lee

BRISBANE, March 16: Fast bowler Brett Lee may be allowed to return home to Australia if he is left out of the team to play New Zealand in second cricket Test starting on Friday.Lee could be cleared to return home to play for New South Wales in Australia?s first-class final, Pura Cup. But he would appear in Brisbane a day late for the match against Queensland because no player can leave Australian squad until the Test starts.Selector Trevor Hohns said: ?We won?t change our normal policy for Tests.?

New South Wales have made a formal approach to Cricket Australia In a bid to get Lee into their side for Pura Cup final.

But Hohns added: ?We haven?t picked a side and there are lots of things to be taken into account if somebody was to leave Australian Test side.

?Obviously the captain and team management have to be satisfied that it?s OK.?

There is even a chance Lee could play in Wellington, with strong winds forecast for second Test.

But he has spent most of the season limited to One-day Internationals, with Glenn McGrath, Jason Gillespie and Michael Kasprowicz preferred.?Agencies
