BADIN, March 11: Senator Yasmin Shah has said that Badin will receive royalty of oil and gas as she has tabled the demand in the Senate.
Speaking at a public gathering at her Badin office, the senator said she was a member of the senate committee for oil and gas and was negotiating with higher authorities in this regard.
She said the LBOD had harmed the people of Badin and caused huge losses to crops and lands.
Ms Shah said President Pervez Musharraf took personal interest and issued orders for its repairs and reconstruction.
She said an amount of Rs60.005 million was sanctioned by the federal government for improvement of the drainage system in Badin city.
SEMINAR: Speakers at a seminar stressed the need for making education result-oriented and urged the rural population to give importance to education.
They were speaking at a seminar on “literacy and mass education” organized by the district education board with collaboration of the district government and the National Commission for Human Development at the government primary school Ahmed Rajo on Thursday.
Prof Abdullah Mallah, a writer and educationist, said students were partially responsible for low-standard of education while parents and teachers should be equally blamed for the situation.
He said no country in the world could progress without well-organized and developed system of education.
“To make the education more effective we have to overhaul the system as cosmetic changes brought about from time to time did not work”, he said.
District Nazim Kamal Chang said he was not against the revival of students union but were equally responsible for low standard of education.
Responding to the demand for drinking water in coastal villages of Ahmed Rajo, he said, recently water was restored in the Rari minor for drinking purpose.
DCO Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah urged the teaching community to impart quality education with missionary zeal as teacher had a vital role in raising standard of education.
NCHD general-manager Zahid Abbasi said the organization was a supportive arm for the government functionaries and providing technical assistance in resolving problems faced by government departments.
Dr Najma Junejo called upon women to acquire education and added that skills of women were asset of a nation.
Siddique Baran, Khadim Talpur, Dawood Khan and Hamida Khaskheli also spoke on the occasion.
