CBR wants copy of new ID card

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, March 3: The Central Board of Revenue has asked the National Tax Number (NTN) holders to send a copy of their Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) to the board latest by March 31.

CBR member information management Aamir Chaudhry told Dawn on Thursday that letters had already been sent to the taxpayers with NTNs asking them to send a copy of their CNICs by the due date for verification from record maintained by the National Database Registration Authority.

The NTNs were allotted to taxpayers based on their old NIC numbers. "We are in the process of replacing and updating the old NIC numbers with the new computerized numbers issued," the member said. He said that names of the taxpayers who did not update their NTNs with CNICs would be removed from the active database.
