KARACHI: Study for new PA house finalized
KARACHI, March 3: The provincial Works and Services Department has finalized a feasibility study for Sindh Assembly's proposed new building.
Secretary of the department, accompanied by architects, is currently on a visit to Islamabad to see the National Assembly hall before giving the study final touches.
"We have expedited preliminary work so that the foundation stone of the new assembly building is laid before June this year," Speaker of the assembly Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah, told PPI at his office on Thursday.
"We also plan to acquire the space adjacent to the Sindh Assembly building so that its premises could be expanded up to the corner near the Arts Council roundabout, adding beauty to this historical place," he said.
The foundation stone of the existing two-storeyed, E-shaped building of the provincial assembly was laid on March 11, 1940 and was completed on March 4, 1942. However, the new building would require huge funds and would take few years to complete, he said. The Sindh Assembly had passed the Pakistan Resolution at the building on March 3, 1943. - PPI
