BAHAWALPUR: Rohi Express service delayed

BAHAWALPUR, Feb 28: The resumption of Rohi Express has been delayed for a day. When contacted, railway officials told Dawn that the train was delayed due to technical reasons. They said the express would leave Rawalpindi station for Khanpur on Tuesday (today).

The train restored following people's resentment over its suspension about a week ago, will be refurbished as the PR officials have realized that it was running in profit due to a large number of passengers on this route.

ELECTED: Out of total 14 high court bar association offices, six office-bearers including three vice-presidents were declared elected unopposed here on Monday. According to the election board chairman, those elected unopposed were: vice-presidents Nazir Ahmed Bhutta, Bahawalpur district; Malik Habib Paras, Rahim Yar Khan district and Mian Salim Akhtar, Bahawalnagar district.

While Jamshed Khan was elected joint secretary, Rana Abdul Qayyum auditor and Mahmood Fayyaz Bhatti library secretary. There will be a one-on-one fight on the remaining three offices for president, secretary-general and finance secretary.

Malik Manzoor Hussain Missan and Sardar Iqbal Ahmed Khakwani filed their papers for the president seat, Azhar Peerzada and Muhammad Iqbal Sial for the secretary-general seat Hafiz Abdul Rashid and Malik Rashid Mahboob Ahmed for the finance secretary seat.

The scrutiny of the papers will be carried out on March 1 (today) while the last date for withdrawal and the display of final list have been fixed at March 2. The polling will be held on March 26.
