PESHAWAR: PAF sets up women's college

PESHAWAR, Feb 23: There is need for creating awareness about female education as women being half the population and can play a vital role in nation-building, said Begum Shamim Iftikhar, the wife of NWFP governor.

She was speaking at the inauguration ceremony the College of Education for Women at the Rehana Jamal Mujahida Academy in Peshawar on Tuesday. The college has been established by the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Women Association and will cater to the educational and professional needs of female dependents of the PAF personnel.

After the inauguration, she went round various sections the college and inspected facilities it has been equipped with. She took keen interest in the sewing and knitting section, beauty corner, slimming unit, cooking and baking section and praised the standard of the facilities. Begum Iftikhar described the establishment of the college under the auspices of PAFWA as an encouraging step forward.
