PESHAWAR: Civic issues of Peshawar discussed

PESHAWAR, Feb 22: A delegation of the Save Peshawar Movement called on Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk on Monday and discussed various issues pertaining to degradation of environment and sanitation situation in the provincial capital.

The delegation comprised president of the movement, Ayaz Badshah, and its general secretary Ismael Khan and a member, Jehanzeb Khan. Justice Nasirul Mulk observed that clean environment was the fundamental right of a citizen under Article 199 of the Constitution. He observed that in different superior courts various petitions pertaining to public interest were filed.

The chief justice said that an environmental tribunal had been constituted specifically for the NWFP comprising a former judge of the Peshawar High Court. He observed that the environmental issues could also be addressed on that forum. The delegation apprised the chief justice about the aims and objectives of the movement.
