Rashid Khan benefit match

KARACHI, Feb 21: Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram will lead an Asian XI against Pakistan XI in a Rashid Khan Benefit Match to be held at National Stadium on April 23.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has given formal permission to hold the a match, Rashid who played four Tests and 29 ODIs for Pakistan between 1981 and 85 said on Monday.

"We are making arrangements to hold a day/night match in a befitting manner" he said. Rashid said negotiations were afoot with current and ex-Test cricketers from India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh to make up the Asian XI.

He said former greats Waqar Younis, Saeed Anwar, Ijaz Ahmed have already confirmed their participation while confirmations from former Sri Lankan skippers Arjuna Ranatunga and Aravinda de Silva are being awaited. -APP
