KARACHI: Hunger strike by KESC men enters seventh day
KARACHI, Feb 9: The hunger strike by KESC Employees Action Committee against privatization of the corporation entered seventh day on Wednesday with two more labour leaders, Gul Zareen Khan and Malik Hayyat Mohammad, joining the fast.
In the meantime, four of the workers continuing their fast-unto-death were taken to a hospital for treatment on Wednesday after they fainted at the camp pitched outside the Karachi Press Club. They are Usman Baloch, Akbar Korejo, Jehangir Khan and Mohammad Hussain Baloch.
Chairman of the KESC Employees Action Committee Mohammad Akhlaq Khan and other labour leaders urged all KESC workers to remain united and continue the struggle until the government was forced to reverse its decision of privatizing the corporation.
Various political and labour leaders, including Afif Alvi, Hafiz Mohammad Taqi, Salim Zia, Meraj Mohammad Khan and Lal Bux Bhutto, visited the camp expressed solidarity with the KESC employees. - PPI
