QUETTA: Transporters threaten strike

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, Feb 6: Transporters in the province have threatened to go on a strike for an indefinite period from Feb 22, in protest against increase in the petroleum prices and their other problems.

Mushtarka Bus Transport, Balochistan, organization's president Haji Jumma Khan Badeni, said at a press conference on Sunday that the government had doubled petroleum prices and highway robbery.

He said owners of busses, trucks and rickshaws were facing difficulties due to the increase. He demanded immediate reduction in the prices. He also expressed concern over incidents of highway robberies. He said checkpoints and mobile teams of law-enforcement agencies on the highways in the province should be abolished.
