HYDERABAD, Feb 5: Kashmir Day was observed in different cities and towns of the interior of Sindh on Saturday. In Hyderabad, the main business centres remained closed and there was very thin traffic on the roads.

The Jamaat-i-Islami held a rally which was also attended by leaders of the component parties of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal.

The participants of the rally were riding on cars, motorbikes and visited different parts of the city and culminated at the press club.

JI Sindh president Dr Mumtaz Memon, MPA Rehman Rajput, MMA city president Abdul Waheed Qureshi, Sheikh Shaukat, PML-N leader Afzal Gujjar and JUI-F leader Taj Mohammad Nahiyoo spoke on the occasion.

They alleged that that government made about-turn on the Kashmir issue after the US pressure but the people from Khyber to Karachi were united to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir.

They demanded that Kashmiris should be given right to self-determination in accordance with the UN resolutions.

They said the rulers were hypocrites because they had taken military action against their own people in Wana and Balochistan while negotiations were being held with India.

DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed and other officials led a walk which was organized by the social welfare department to lend support to the cause of Kashmir.

Social welfare organizations of the city also held a joint rally.

The People's Party Parliamentarians held a meeting on the Kashmir day.

MIRPURKHAS: Activists of the MMA took out a rally which was led by the city president Lala Noor Mohammad.

They demanded that the UN should take notice of violations of human rights in Kashmir and the government should not take any step against the wishes of Kashmiri people.

A seminar was held at the technical college under aegis of the education department where the Kashmir issue was highlighted.

MITHI: A complete strike was observed in this Hindu majority town on Saturday to support the Kashmiris.

Jamaat-i-Islami and Sindh education department held rallies.

NAWABSHAH: Activists of the MMA took out a rally to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people.

KHAIRPUR: School children and members of NGOs held a rally to mark the Kashmir day on Saturday.

SHIKARPUR: Activists of the Jamaat-i-Islami and other parties took out a procession and staged a demonstration to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people.

BADIN: Religious parties also observed Kashmir day in Badin by bringing out a rally.

JACOBABAD: Activists of the MMA took out a procession to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people.

The protesters staged a sit-in near the DCO chowk.

Similar processions were also taken out in Nausharo Feroze and other cities and towns of the interior of Sindh.
