By Our Correspondent

PESHAWAR, Feb 4: After assurance from the NWFP governor that proper action was being taken to recover abducted persons as well as to capture the kidnappers, the elders of Lakki Marwat district wound up a protest camp here on Friday.

About 16 elders of the district had set up the protest camp in front of the Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday demanding recovery of 14 persons kidnapped by a group of criminals.

The elders of Lakki Marwat were demanding the arrest of the kidnappers' chief. It was said that three persons, Mir Ajab Khan, Miraj-ud-Din and a woman were killed in the custody of the kidnappers.

The 16-member delegation from Laki Marwat called on NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah at Governor's House here on Friday and sought his help in the recovery of the persons who were kidnapped from the area as well as early arrest of the kidnappers.

The delegation, which also included MPAs Anwar Kamal Marwat, Malik Imran Khan and Mr Zafarullah Khan Marwat and a former MNA Naseer Muhammad Khan told the governor about the latest situation in this connection.

The governor said that the government was fully aware of its responsibilities about ensuring protection and safety of life, honour and property of the citizens. Action was being taken to recover the kidnapped persons as well as to bring the kidnappers to the book.
