RAWALPINDI, Feb 3: Nust International Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution hosted a talk by a senior fellow of the London-based International Institute of Strategic Studies (IISS), here on Wednesday.

The IISS senior fellow, Mr Ward, highlighted the role of China in shaping the security architecture of the East Asian region. The visiting scholar, who is a renowned expert in the subject of East Asian Security, generated an interesting and illuminating discussion during the question-answer session.

The participants highlighted the dynamics of China's long- term vision of economic development and prudent use of diplomacy in shaping its foreign policy. The Nust institute's advisory council chairman, Lt-Gen (retired) Sahibzada Yaqub Khan, presided over the event while Nust Rector Lt-Gen (retired) Shujaat Hussain, members of the advisory council, retired diplomats, members of faculty and resource persons from a number of institutions participated in the discourse.

The visit of Mr Ward marks the beginning of an institutional relationship between the IISS and the Nust institute. Both the think-tanks are desirous of transforming this relationship into an enduring and enriching interaction to share research and information.
