Special persons quota to be implemented soon: minister

By Inamullah Khattak

ISLAMABAD, Feb 3: Federal Minister for Women Development and Special Education Zobaida Jalal has said one per cent allocation in jobs quota for special persons would be implemented soon so as to bring them at par with normal people.

She said this at a prize distribution ceremony for special children organized by Pakistan Qaumi Yakjehti Council (PQYC) here on Thursday. She said the government, with the collaboration of private sector, was devising strategies to improve the standard of special persons in all walks of life.

"Special persons and children require our sympathy, which is the best service for humanity" she added. The minister urged humanitarian aid organizations to play an active role in serving special children, as they can do it more easy than engaging in other aid activities.

"The government is giving due preference and spends a lot on special education, which is the need of hour," she added. The minister of state for sports, culture and youth affairs, Mohammad Ali Durrani, said special persons and children deserved more attention than normal people because they required the help of those who could see, hear and walk.

Minister of State for Interior Dr Shahzad Wasim said Pakistani children were competent in every field of life provided they were encouraged and properly facilitated. "Special children are blessed with God gifted qualities and they are important component of our society" he added.
