PESHAWAR: Rickshaw driver dies in roof collapse

PESHAWAR, Jan 28: A rickshaw driver was killed and his wife and two sons were injured when the roof of their house collapsed in the Qadirabad locality on Thursday night.
According to neighbours, the roof of the rickshaw driver's single-room house was in a dilapidated condition and it caved in on Thursday night apparently due to recent rain in the city.
Javed, the 50-year-old rickshaw driver, was killed. His wife Jan Rehmat and sons Zahir, 12, and Ishfaq, 14, were injured. They were admitted to the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH).
Meanwhile, a woman was killed and her son injured when they were hit by a car on Tariq Road in the Cantonment area on Friday.Aamir Butt, a resident of RA Bazaar, told the East-Cantonment police that he was going with his mother Zuhra Jan when the car (Peshawar-N 2646) hit them.
Zuhra Jan died and Aamir was taken to the LRH for moderate wounds. The driver escaped, leaving his car on the scene of the accident. Police have seized the car and started search for the driver.
In a separate incident, the owner of an ice factory was robbed by a rickshaw driver and his accomplice on Friday. Asif Khan, the factory owner, told police that he had hired the rickshaw to go home in Guldasht Colony. When they reached near the Bala Hisar Fort, the rickshaw driver stopped and pulled out a pistol and deprived him of Rs5,000 and his mobile telephone.
