PESHAWAR: Woman smuggler refused bail

By Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, Jan 28: An additional district and sessions judge, Liaqat Ali Marwat, on Friday dismissed the bail application of a woman charged with female smuggling.

Ms Yasmeen, the applicant, was charged with kidnapping a teenaged girl and selling her in Punjab.

The court observed that the applicant did not deserve to be released on bail. Her husband, Dawer Shah, has also been behind bars in the same case. An FIR was lodged with the Daudzai police by the father of the abducted girl on Jan 7.

He claimed that his daughter was missing and he suspected the involvement of the accused couple in the act. Later, the police arrested the couple and the girl was recovered from Punjab.

In her statement, the girl said she was given some food laced with intoxicants by the accused persons. She said that she fell unconscious and when she regained consciousness she was in Punjab.

The girl alleged that the couple had sold her to a person, Shehzada, in Kundal area. She said her nikkah was forcefully contracted with Shehzada who, she added, molested her repeatedly.
