KARACHI: Five men shot dead in city

KARACHI, Jan 15: Three people were shot dead at a shop in Liaquatabad on Saturday evening by unidentified masked motorcyclists.
Police said that Haroon, 55, his son Imran, 27, and a servant Hanif, 28, were sitting in their shop of decoration service at Liaquatabad No 2, when three men on a motorcycle with their faces covered, came there and started indiscriminate firing with automatic weapons.
As a result, Haroon and Hanif died on the spot and Imran succumbed to his wounds on his way to hospital. The firing created a panic in the area and shops were closed.
The police reached the spot and found the empties of automatic weapons. Imran was an employee at a court, while Hanif belonged to Khairpur. Their affiliation with a political or religious party could not be known immediately.
In another incident, two brothers were gunned down and a man was wounded when they put up resistance to bandits at a shop in Kalakot. Police said Shahzad, 27, and his brother Shahid, 25, were present at their shoes shop on Mewashah Road and were dealing with a customer, Anwar Mukhtar, 26.
Some bandits entered the shop and demanded money. The two brothers put up resistance and refused to give the money on which the bandits opened fire and fled. As a result, both the two brothers died on the spot, and the customer, Anwar was injured. He was taken to hospital where doctors described his condition as serious. The two brothers were residents of Rexer Lane.
ACCIDENT: A youth died after being hit by an unknown vehicle on Super Highway near a sacrificial animal market. Police said Samiullah, 22, was crossing the road when an unknown vehicle hit him and sped away resulting in his death. The body was sent to hospital for autopsy.
In another road accident, an unidentified man in his mid 50s, on a bicycle, was hit by a water tanker. He died on the spot and the water tanker driver escaped leaving the vehicle.
