HARIPUR: Case registered against couple: Torture of 11-year-old girl

HARIPUR, Jan 7: Police here on Thursday registered a case against the employers of an 11-year-old maid who was allegedly subjected to physical torture.

The victim was brought to the DHQ hospital two days ago and according to doctors, was undergoing complete medical examinations for determining the nature and signs of torture on her body as most of her wounds had healed before she reached the hospital.

Nazia, 11, of village Phoee Gar, Attock, was hired by one Ishfaq and his wife Kosar, a school-teacher, some six months back for looking after their infant child and household chores.

According to the victim and her parents, the couple beat her intermittently and inflicted injuries to her abdomen and other parts of body and also shaved her head. The girl's father, Mumtaz, and mother, Shaheen, had lodged a complaint against the couple for torturing their daughter.

A case had been registered with the city police station against Ishfaq and his wife under sections 337/5-1, 355, 341, 342, 34 of PPC. According to police, Ishfaq had been nabbed and produced before the court of Senior Civil Judge, Haripur Rozeena Rehman, who remanded him to police custody for one day while his wife was at large.
