TANK, Jan 3: Flood in different parts of district Tank damaged transport and communication system on Sunday. Three days of heavy downpour flooded various water channels submerging hundreds of acres of cultivated lands in the Jattatar , Kunidan and Bittani areas besides washing away fertile land in the outskirts of the city. It also damaged roads in and around the city, adding to the misery of people.

Traffic remained suspended on Tank-Peshawar road near Gul Imam village, on Tank-South Waziristan road near Kiryani bridge and on Tank-D.I. Khan road near Akram Kot and practically Tank remained cut off from the rest of the country on Sunday. The traffic on the road was diverted via D.I. Khan near Pezu pass.

However, on Monday army batches moving to SWA have repaired the Kiryani bridge and the Tank-D.I. Khan road was reopened but a large part of the road was eroded by the flash flood. In the adjoining Jattatar area 12 villages were cut off besides losing standing seasonal crops. -APP
