PESHAWAR, Jan 3: Three newly appointed additional judges of the Peshawar High Court took oath on Monday. Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk administered the oath to Justice Saleem Khan, Justice Muhammad Raza Khan and Justice Jehanzeb Raheem.
The president of Pakistan had appointed them additional judges for one year on Jan 1.
Before his elevation to the high court, Justice Saleem was serving in Peshawar as presiding officer of the accountability court No 2. Justice Raza Khan was joint secretary in the law, justice and human rights division in Islamabad and Justice Jehanzeb Raheem was advocate-general of the NWFP.
Judges of the high court, judicial officers, deputy attorney-general, additional advocates-general and senior members of the bar attended the ceremony. With this induction, the strength of judges in the PHC has risen to 14, against the sanctioned strength of 15.
Justice Jehanzeb Raheem had been serving as the advocate-general since April 3, 2002. Justice Saleem Khan has remained secretary of the provincial law department for many years. He finally replaced by the MMA government in 2003.
He joined the judiciary on May 12, 1975. Both Justice Saleem Khan and Justice Raza Khan are senior most among the serving district and sessions judges and are in BPS-20.
