KARACHI: Nazim opens four parks in Gulberg Town


KARACHI, Jan 1: City Nazim Niamatullah Khan has announced construction of an overhead pedestrian bridge at Naseerabad, Shahrah-i-Pakistan.

He made the announcement while inaugurating four parks - Aisha Park and Family Park in block 14 (UC-5), and Coconut Park and Jheel Park in block 15, F B Area - in Gulberg Town on Friday night.

Different types of swings for children, fountains, walking path and jogging tracks have been developed in these parks. A waterfall has also been developed in Jheel Park.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony for Jheel Park, the nazim said that parks were being developed at UC and town levels, besides one model park in each town. Floodlights were being installed in playgrounds to facilitate sports after sunset, he added.

The nazim said that Karachi would be made a city of playgrounds and green parks. He also pointed out that a cardio institute was also being established in F B Area to provide medical treatment to cardiac patients. He referred to a study which suggested that six patients died on their way to the NICVD due to the long distance. The institutue, he added, would be inaugurated early next month.

Moreover, he added, the city government was establishing first aid centres in different parts of the city for cardio patients.

Speaking to the audience at the inauguration ceremony for the Family Park, Mr Khan said that development works over the last three years, were unmatched in the history of the city. This, he said, was acknowledged by all within and outside the country.
