KARACHI, Dec 31: The City Nazim, Niamatullah Khan, has directed removal of impediments in the construction of Preedi Street Extension from Saddar Dawakhana to Shahrah-i-Quaideen via the Lines Area.

Presiding over a review meeting of the Lines Area Development Project at Civic Centre, the nazim said that construction of an alternate route form the Empress Market to Shahrah-i-Quaideen would reduce traffic pressure on the M.A. Jinnah Road.

The meeting was told that encroachment was the main obstacle in construction of the said road. Naimat directed that a workable plan be prepared for removing encroachments after surveying the Preedi Street Extension, and report be submitted within a week in this regard.

The initial portion of the road had been constructed under the Khushhal Pakistan Programme, while the remaining portion could not be completed due to encroachment. - PPI
