ABBOTTABAD: Abottabad and Galyat in grip of severe cold

By Our Correspondent

ABBOTTABAD, Dec 22: The entire Galyat and Abbottabad are in grip of a severe cold as the mercury dropped below the freezing point due to continuing heavy snowfall. The temperature remained minus 10 degree Celsius.

About two to three feet snowfall was reported in Nathiagali, Donga Gali, Changla Gali, Ayubia, while three to four feet was reported in Thandiyani. The road from Abbottabad to Murree was closed for all types of traffic from Bagnother to Barian. According to a forecast more snowfall is expected in the area.

All the link roads in Galyat are already closed for the last few days and Wednesday's snowfall brought the life to a standstill. Beside the closure of communication links, power supply to the Galyat was also disrupted as electricity poles and power lines collapsed due to the heavy snowfall.

Due to the prevailing freezing weather conditions, daily life also came to a halt in the Abbottabad city and the residents faced many problems due to the low pressure of Sui gas in the city. Most parts of the city remained without Sui gas supply.
