ISLAMABAD, Dec 11: The United States has agreed to revive the facility of duty concession on Pakistani carpets under generalized system of preferences (GSP).
An official in the commerce ministry told Dawn on Saturday that the concession under the GSP would be in the range of 2 to 3 per cent in import duty on Pakistani carpets.
He said that the US has already promised to increase the range of items for the facility.
The statistics showed that Pakistan exports of carpets, rugs and mats declined by 5.38 per cent during the first five months this year and stood at $86.895 million this year against $91.837 million during the same period of last year.
According to the official due to this facility it was expected the export of carpets might increase in the coming months.
