SHEIKHUPURA, Dec 4: Farooqabad police on Saturday obtained four-day physical remand of alleged terrorist Qari Muhammad Aslam who was arrested from Dera Mehlianwala mosque.

The arrest of his accomplice Hamid Khan was however not brought on record till Saturday evening. Sources said Khan alias Commando was being grilled by a security agency.

Army deserters, both the accused are stated to be activists of a banned militant outfit.

Aslam was brought to a local court amid tight security.

The Farooqabad police had registered a case against Qari Aslam under section 3/4, 5/6 Explosives Substance Act (1908) and 216/PPC, harbouring notorious proclaimed offenders.

Police teams led by SP investigation Dr Suleman Sultan Rana also obtained record of outgoing and incoming calls made by both the accused from their cell phones.

APP adds: Police have arrested two more activists of a defunct organization on the information revealed by Hafiz Muhammad Aslam.

Police sources told APP here Saturday that during the interrogation Hafiz Aslam revealed that his two accomplices were serving as prayer leaders in Thatha Bahadur area of Khanqan Dogran and Dera Cheemawala in the Farooqabad PS limits. A police team later arrested Qari Muhammad Arshad and Qari Ahmed Sher.

KILLED: A prayer leader allegedly strangled his student after sodomy in Shad Bagh locality of Nankana Sahib, some 55 kilometres from here, on Saturday.

Fayaz had been learning the holy Quran at Karmanwala Madressah from Qari Mohammad Husain.

His family became worried when Fayaz did not return home. They found the body of the boy from the upper floor of the mosque.

Nankana City police have arrested the Qari.

Five robberies: Robbers struck five times in Khanpur village during the last 24 hours and took away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.

Ten robbers barged into the house of lumberdar Riasat Ali and made off with Rs40,000 in cash and gold ornaments weighing 10 tolas worth around Rs100,000.

They beat up Riasat for putting up resistance.

Six gunmen entered the shop of Mahmood Khan Niazi and escaped with cash and other valuables worth Rs50,000.

Later, they entered the house of tailor Aslam and took away cash and cloth worth thousands of rupees.

Robbers tied the family of Munir Rehmani with ropes and deprived it of cash, gold ornaments and electronics goods worth thousands of rupees.

In the fifth incident took place in the house of Ahmad Akbar, bandits held the family at gunpoint and fled away with cash, valuables and ornaments worth thousands of rupees.

Meanwhile, residents of the area protested against the against the Factory Area police and criticized them for failing to curb crime.
