ISLAMABAD: 1.64kg heroin seized

ISLAMABAD, Nov 30: The Special Investigation Cell of the Anti-Narcotics Force, Islamabad, in collaboration with the Regional Directorate, Rawalpindi, seized 1.640 kilogramme heroin, an ANF spokesman said here on Tuesday.

The spokesman said the joint director of the Special Investigation Cell was tipped off about smuggling of heroin from Islamabad International Airport abroad. The Cell in collaboration with the Regional Directorate, Rawalpindi, intercepted a South African national identified as Lawrence Philip, at the Islamabad International Airport.

He was carrying capsules in his stomach and heroin was also finely concealed in his shoes. The total weight of the contraband recovered was 1.640 kilogramme. An FIR has been lodged and investigation started.
