MMA motions

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Nov 13: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) has submitted various adjournment motions and resolutions on different subjects to the Sindh Assembly secretariat for the Nov 18 session.

The motions and resolutions pertain to the recruitment policy, failure of law-enforcement agencies in arresting killers of Mufti Mohammad Jamil and Maulana Nazeer Ahmad Taunsvi, cancellation of contracts of fishermen operating in the coastal areas of Thatta and Badin by Rangers, and abolition of self-financing scheme, as well as increasing of merit seats, in professional and technical institutions.

Through the adjournment motion submitted by the MMA's deputy parliamentary party leader Nasrullah Shaji and Hameedullah Khan, a debate has been sought on the policy to recruit an estimated 42,000 people in government departments. The members have maintained that following the lifting of the longstanding ban on recruitment, the coalition parties might indulge in unfair practices.

Through another adjournment motion, the MPAs have sought facts about the progress achieved so far towards the arrest the killers of eminent religious scholars Mufti Muhammad Jamil and Maulana Nazeer Ahmad Taunsvi.
