ISLAMABAD, Nov 13: Pakistan and Russia are likely to negotiate a string of measures for enhancing bilateral cooperation and volume of trade.
An official source told Dawn on Saturday that in this connection a high powered official delegation was scheduled to leave for Moscow on November 28 to negotiate these measures for consideration.
The delegation to be headed by Secretary of Economic Affairs Division (EAD) Shuja Shah and would include officials from ministries of finance, commerce, industries and the Central Board of Revenue (CBR).
The delegation during its three-day stay in Moscow would mainly discuss the decade-old issue of pending amount of the businessmen who exported goods to the former USSR in the early 1980's. The amount was yet to be released to the exporters.
Pakistan and Russia had already conducted negotiations on the convention for the avoidance of double taxation between the two countries. The authorities were likely to conclude the agreement.
The bilateral trade and economic cooperation, settlement of mutual obligations and finalization of debt regulations would also be discussed during the visit. Pakistan would also offer to extend technical support to Russia for becoming the member of World Trade Organization (WTO), added the official.
