9 die in Kashmir clashes

SRINAGAR, Nov 11: Police in occupied Kashmir killed two militants who attacked their camp on Thursday evening, an official said. Seven more militants were shot dead elsewhere in the state, a police spokesman said.

Militants hurled grenades and opened fire with assault rifles at a hotel which has been taken over by India's Central Police Reserve Force in the Konikhan area of Srinagar.

During heavy fighting, two of the militants were killed, one near the entrance of the camp, the spokesman said. Three policemen were injured.

Police announced earlier on Thursday that troops killed seven suspected militants.-AFP
