KARACHI: Young man, woman killed

KARACHI, Nov 11: A man and a women were found murdered in a house in Pirabad on Thursday night. TPO SITE Imran Shaukat told Dawn that the deceased had rented the house a few days back in the Subhani Mohallah, Pirabad.
They had come from Peshawar, he added.
The young man was identified as Badaruddin, 28, while the woman was identified as Hajra, 21.
The TPO said that Hajra was already married to a man named Mahsood and had two children from the marriage, but had run away from home.
Both Badaruddin and Hajra had suffered head injuries inflicted by a blunt weapon. The assailants had inserted plastic bags into their mouths.
Police said there were no valuables in the house.
The assailants had also cut about a four inch piece of skin from the left hand of the young woman.
The bodies were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy examination.
ESCAPED: An under-trial prisoner who was under treatment at the Civil Hospital made his escape from hospital on Thursday.
Police said Azhar Ali, 24, was arrested in Kharadar during a police encounter on October 30. Azhar had sustained injuries during the encounter for which he was being provided treatment.
Police said that Azhar, who was in possession of a TT pistol, managed to escape using his weapon on Thursday morning.
The suspect was said to be an associate of Arshad Pappu's gang, police added.
ACCIDENT: A middle-aged man died in an accident with a hit-and-run vehicle in Quaidabad.
Police said that forty-year-old Hidayatullah was crossing a main thoroughfare when an unknown speeding vehicle knocked him down.
He was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
INJURED: A housewife was wounded in a house robbery in Liaquatabad on Thursday.
Police said armed suspects barged into a house of Jameela, and as they were fleeing after looting the house, Jameela posed resistance. The suspects shot her in the neck and fled from the house.
Police said the woman was rushed to the Civil Hospital where she was admitted for treatment.
