Qasim suffers from cancer

LAHORE, Nov 3: Pakistan hockey goalkeeper Mohammad Qasim has been suffering from cancer, it has been learnt on Wednesday.Qasim said he came to know about the diagnosis after he received the results of the tests on Wednesday.

Few more tests would be conducted on Thursday to determine the stage of the disease after which the final decision about the treatment would be taken, said Qasim who was hit on chest during a training camp in Lahore.

The goalkeeper did not consult doctors and took pain killers. He was shifted to Lahore from Gojra about three months ago with chest pain. He was later admitted to local hospital for heart treatment.

Doctors had opined pain was due to some old injury and operated upon him. Qasim started experiencing pain last month and underwent a series of tests to determine the nature of disease.
