Bazid slams superb unbeaten hundred
By Our Sports Reporter
KARACHI, Nov 3: A splendid unbeaten century by Bazid Khan sent Hyderabad on a leather hunt as Rawalpindi amassed 314 for three in their first innings on the first day of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy cricket match at the Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
Bazid struck 146 off 228 balls as he unleashed 19 boundaries during his 274-minute knock. Bilal Asad made a rapid 66 off 93 balls while putting on 141 for the third wicket with Bazid. Bilal hit 11 fours and one six.
Rawalpindi, who were asked to bat first by Hyderabad skipper Faisal Athar, lost left-handed opener Asher Zaidi for seven. Fellow opener Babar Naeem was also back in the hut after making 22.
Bazid, who made his international debut in the recent tri-series one-day tournament, playing in the two games against Zimbabwe, found another useful partner in ex-Test batsman Naveed Qureshi.
Naveed was batting with 45 in the unfinished fourth-wicket stand worth 114 runs so far with Bazid, who brought up his century off 141 balls in just over three hours with 14 hours.
