WB team pledges to continue support

KARACHI, Nov 3: A three-member visiting World Bank inspection panel led by senior Economist Warner Kiene, met the Sindh Chief Secretary, Mohammed Aslam Sanjrani, on Wednesday.

The chief secretary, welcoming the WB team, expressed hope that the visit would prove positive with specific reference to the ongoing WB-aided projects and for future schemes.

Various issues were discussed in the meeting including water-related projects.

Mr Sanjrani emphasized the need for gearing up measures for strengthening water resources, and said these resources were essential for human beings and wildlife.

The WB team appreciated the interest being taken by the Sindh government in the ongoing WB-aided projects, and assured to sort out relevant issues to the satisfaction of all stakeholders.

Besides the delegation members - Serve Selwan and Andrew Thomson - others that attended the meeting included Additional Chief Secretary (Dev) Ghulam Sarwar Khero, Secretary Irrigation and Power Ashfaque Ahmed Memon, Provincial Coordinator National Draining Programme Brig (Retd) Abdul Haq, Chief Engineer WAPDA Abdul Rehman Leghari, MD (WS) SIDA Ali Muhammad Baloch, and Chief of Planning and Development Hassan Ali Din Muhammad. - APP
