LAHORE: 'Anti-govt movement to end in smoke'

Staff Reporter

LAHORE, Nov 3: Punjab Assembly's public accounts committee chairman Azeem Nuri Ghumman predicts failure of the likely anti-Musharraf government of the opposition.

Talking to reporters at his chamber here on Wednesday, he said the opposition movement would end in smoke due to lack of the required street power.

"People won't respond to any call for agitation for they are too busy in earning their livelihood," he believed.

He said the incumbent government would intact even during the December 2005 what to talk of December 2004 when the opposition would launch its protest movement.

"Such reports are being spread by the opposition out of its desperation," he alleged. He denied reports that president of the ruling PML was being replaced.

Claiming that economic situation in the country had improved under the present set-up, he said people were committing suicides due to their domestic problems and not poverty.
