PESHAWAR: Eight killed in Malakand accident

PESHAWAR, Oct 24: Eight people were killed and 27 suffered serious injuries when a pick-up fell into a ravine near Dargai in Malakand Agency on Sunday.

The injured persons have been taken to hospitals in different areas, including Peshawar. Eye-witnesses said that Khaista Khan, the driver of the vehicle, had picked up passengers from Dargai and was heading towards the Totai area, north of Peshawar.

Near Totai, the vehicle overturned while negotiating a turn.

The driver and his son Shakeel died on the spot. One of the passengers killed in the accident was identified as Saifur Rehman, another as father of the Totai union council nazim, Hazratullah.

The other four deceased were not identified till the filing of the report.
