MIRPURKHAS, Oct 12: District and sessions judge Mohammad Iqbal Arain here on Tuesday sentenced Mohammad Aslam and Nazeer Ahmed Khaskheli to five years of imprisonment on charges of hijacking a car from the Mirpurkhas-Naokot road and torturing its driver, Shankar.

The convicts would undergo further six months of imprisonment in case they fail to pay fine. The case against them was registered at the Digri police station.

ARRESTS: Investigation police arrested some suspects here on Tuesday, following a robbery in the Khumbri village, Mirpurkhas taluka. Four unidentified armed men barged into the house of businessman Younus Memon on Monday.

Holding the tenants hostage at gunpoint, the robbers locked them in a room, and looted cash Rs85,000 and gold jewellery gold and other valuable goods. The Taluka police, on registering a case, conducted raids at different places and arrested many suspects for interrogation.
