KARACHI: 6,266 admissions granted in first year humanities

KARACHI, Oct 8: The Centralized Admission Committee on Friday finalized 6,266 admissions for first year classes (humanities faculty) in government colleges and higher secondary schools.
Giving details, EDO Higher Education Prof Rais Alvi said till the day about 65,000 male and female students had been placed for admission to science, commerce, home economics, computer science faculties of colleges.
The number is likely to reach 80,000 with the release of placement lists for arts (female). The list is expected in a few days. He said that efforts were being made to provide students an opportunity to pursue studies in the institutions of their choice and convenience.
According to Arts (male) list, as many as 12 A-graders, 127 B- graders, 515 C-graders, 3841 D-graders and 771 E-graders have been offered admissions in 27 colleges and 13 higher secondary schools. The students selected for admissions to Humanities group have been advised to finalize admission within seven days.
A maximum number of 451 students have been placed in S M Arts and Commerce College (evening), followed by the Sirajuddaula College (evening) and S M Arts and Commerce College (morning).
The highest closing marks percentage was observed in the case of National College (morning) with 414 or 48.47 marks, followed by Islamia Arts and Commerce College (morning) 44.24 per cent and Jinnah College 44.12 per cent. The opening and closing marks in the placement list are as follows:
