RAHIM YAR KHAN, Oct 7: Two local activists of outlawed Hizbul Tehreer - Dr Sajid Naeem and Mian Abdul Rauf- were arrested early Thursday.

Dr Waheed, a local Hizb spokesman, told newsmen that around 100 personnel boarding eight vehicles surrounded the house of Dr Sajid Naeem on Shahbazpur Road and whisked him away to some unknown place.

Mian Rauf's wife told newsmen that a large number of elite force and some agencies personnel raided her house in Jinnah Park at 4:15 am and broke the main gate. Violating the sanctity of Purdah, she said they entered the house and arrested her husband without giving any reason.

Dr Waheed said when he contacted Sadar police, he was told that arrests were the result of a case registered by Pakgate (Multan) police against 16 Hizb members, including 13 from RY Khan. He said 11 of them had already been arrested.
