KARACHI, Oct 5: The Sindh Minister for Planning and Development, Syed Shoaib Ahmed Bukhari, inaugurated the Mono-Technic Institute of Information Technology in Orangi Town on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said foundation stone of the institute was aimed at imparting textile, dying and printing technologies. The project cost an estimated Rs52.177 million.

He hoped the institute would meet requirements of the two million people of Orangi Town. Mr Bokhari said, in an age of computers, there was not a single department without computer technology anywhere in the world, adding that computer application was more than 70 per cent in developed countries and some 30 per cent in developing countries.

Almost 120 million computers were being used all over the world, he informed. Nazim Orangi Town Shaikh Muhammad Feroze, Chairman Sindh Board of Technical Education Dr Masroor Ahmed Shaikh, District Officer Education Masroor Ahmed Siddiqui, Deputy City Officer Asim were also present. - PPI
