PESHAWAR: Teachers urged to remember obligations

PESHAWAR, Oct 5: Speakers on Tuesday reminded teachers of their obligations and responsibilities and urged them to perform their duties with honesty and dedication.

They were speaking at a Teachers' Day function held in the University of Peshawar on Tuesday. Like other parts of country, World Teachers' Day was observed in collaboration with the Peshawar University Teachers' Association. Several teachers, along with the university's vice-chancellor as well as the Agriculture University's vice-chancellor, addressed the participants.

Peshawar University Cice-Chancellor Mumtaz Gul said that teachers had an important role to play in the society as their duty was not only to impart quality education but also to behave as role models and display a high moral character.

They were supposed to develop students' intellectual capabilities besides nurturing their personality growth and mental development, said Mr Gul. He urged the teachers to develop compassion.

He urged teachers to fulfil their responsibilities honestly and remain committed to their profession. The vice-chancellor assured teachers of his support and said that the university's administration would provide all possible assistance to the teacher community.

Dr Iqbal Shah, Vice Chancellor of the Agriculture University, president of the Puta Arbab Khan Afridi, Dr Wazeem Khan, director of the Institute of Education and Research also highlighted the role and importance of teachers. (IER) dilated upon the functions of a good teacher. Later a walk, led by the vice-chancellor of the Peshawar University, was also held, which was largely attended by teaches of the university.
