GUWAHATI, Oct 3: Indian troops prepared to flush out guerillas from thick jungles of Assam on Sunday after a fresh wave of bombs ripped through streets and marketplaces killing four people and wounding 40, officials said.

The explosions followed a series of bombings and attacks in Assam and Nagaland on Saturday that killed dozens of people. "There were people crying out in pain, there were others walking with blood on their clothes," a resident, Hiren Barua, told newsmen by telephone from Sonari, 500 km from Assam's main city Guwahati.

Two bombs went off in the towns of Sonari and Baska, near the state's border with Bhutan, wounding another 20 people. Two more strapped to bicycles exploded in markets in different parts of Assam, killing a man and wounding at least 20 people. -Reuters
