Residential area attacked in Riyadh
RIYADH, Oct 3: Two assailants hurled a hand-grenade at the fortified fence of an upscale housing compound in the Saudi capital without causing any casualties, in the latest attack to target expatriates in the kingdom
, newspapers here reported on Sunday.
The device exploded just two metres from the guard post of the Seder Village compound in Riyadh's Rawdah neighbourhood, the English-language Saudi Gazette reported, citing compound manager Richard D'May.
The assailants then fired in the air with a machine-gun before running away, Mr D'May said. The guards of the 279-villa compound did not return fire and most residents slept through the attack which "lasted for 30 seconds" only, he added. -AFP
