QUETTA: Rocket fired at stadium in Quetta

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, Oct 3: A man was reported killed after an explosive device went off in a scrap dump near the border town of Taftan while two more explosions occurred in different areas of the provincial capital late Sunday night.

Levies officials from Taftan said that the explosion occurred after a man, identified as Gulzar, tried to hit an object found in the scrap brought over from Iran.

In Quetta, a rocket landed in front of the badminton and squash complex inside the Ayub Stadium, the venue of the 29th National Games.

Shahida Parveen, a Pakistan Railways player, was rendered unconscious because of the powerful explosion. However, no one was hurt in the rocket attack, police said. "It was a 7mm rocket," police sources said, adding that its explosion created a two-foot crater.
