PESHAWAR, Oct 3: The city district government, with the help of Unicef, has launched a mobilisation camapign for the three-day polio drive sheduled to commence from Oct 5.

Teams formed by the district government and Unicef have started door-to-door visits to persuade parents to have five-year-old children administered polio drops during the drive.

In this connection, District Nazim Azam Khan Afridi visited Hayatabad Township where he inspected teams' activities and expressed his satisfaction over the process. He asked people to get immunized their children against polio.

Mr Afridi said children, who formed 17 per cent of the population, needed to grow in a healthy environment and play their part for the welfare of the country and its people in future. He also appreciated efforts of Unicef for the campaign and pledged his full support to the world body.
