PESHAWAR, Sept 25: A former provincial chief of Pakistan People's Party, Khwaja Mohammad Khan Hoti, has described the proposed construction of Kalabagh dam as 'destructive' for the province.

He said the dam was unacceptable to the people of the NWFP.

Speaking at a public meeting in Swabi on Saturday, he said the controversial Kalabagh dam was also unacceptable to the people of Sindh and Balochistan.

He stressed that a consensus on the issue was necessary to avoid any misunderstanding among the provinces.

Mr Hoti said he would consult his friends and supporters and then make a decision about his political future.

Despite his resignation from the party post, he was still active in the political field.

"After touring all over the province, I will make a decision," he added.

He criticized the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal government for what he claimed "not delivering the goods".

The MMA had deceived the people in the name of religion during the elections, he added. Referring to his differences with the party high-ups, he said a particular gang had made the party hostage which wanted to keep and prolong its hold on it.

Mr Hoti said he was a follower of the late Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, who had laid down his life for the cause of Pakistan's working class people but refused to beg for his life from dictators.
