ISLAMABAD, Sept 16: The differences within the Pakistan People's Party (Patriots) resurfaced on Thursday when the party's Information Secretary MNA Major (retired) Tanveer Hussain Syed without naming accused Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat of launching a campaign to damage his reputation.
Speaking on a point of order, Maj Tanveer, who is also the parliamentary secretary for defence, referred to a news item published in a section of the press which said his residence at the Parliament Lodges had been raided by the FIA to search for an accused involved in human smuggling.
The report said FIA personnel on Wednesday raided the "residence of a parliamentary secretary to hunt down Agha Ghazanfar Ali, former PS to ex-interior minister Faisal Saleh Hayat, for his alleged involvement in human smuggling." According to the report, the FIA conducted the raid on a tip-off, but the accused escaped.
Mr Tanveer denied that his house had been raided by any agency. He said he knew who had got published this news. He said the man who was behind this news was sitting in the house and was taking such steps to hide his "corruption." He said that person always remained busy in hatching conspiracies against others.
When the opposition members shouted and asked Maj Tanveer to name the person, he said: "If he is a Syed then he should remember that I am also a Syed." He said he had the right to move a privilege motion on the issue but he would not do this as he believed that it would be an "insult" to the house. "I warn him not to indulge in such practices", he said.
