SARGODHA: Facility for taxpayers

By Our Correspondent

SARGODHA, Sept 12: Under the directive of the CBR, Sargodha Income Tax Commissioner Muhammad Asif Hashmi has set up two tax facilitation centres for providing guidance and necessary help to taxpayers of the Sargodha Income Tax Zone, comprising Sargodha and Jhang districts. The Sargodha centre has been set up on the Stadium Link Road, ITO Faheem Aziz Qureshi as its in charge.

PROTEST: Patwaris staged a sit-in at the revenue offices here on Saturday against the arrest of a tehsildar. Qasim Bharwana was arrested in a complaint lodged by Abdul Haq Gujar for alleged forcible ejection from his farmland, demolition of his house and humiliation of women.

The case was registered on the direction of the Lahore High Court. It may be recalled here that Inspector Falak Sher, ASI Muhammad Ramzan, Naib Tehsildar Mukhtar Hussain, Girdawar Zafar Abbas and Patwari Arshad and others had demolished rooms and damaged standing crops of the complainant besides allegedly humiliating his women on May 26, 2003, but no one gave the complainant any relief.

He filed a petition in the Lahore High Court and a case was registered on Mar 6 last. Tehsildar was arrested when one of the co-accused stated before the police that he acted upon his instructions. A bail petition by Mr Bharwana was, however, adjourned by Judicial Magistrate Khwaja Tariq Khursheed till 14th of this month.
