PESHAWAR: Seminar on cultural heritage planned

PESHAWAR, Sept 11: The NWFP archaeology and museums directorate will hold a seminar on Tuesday in collaboration with the United Nations Educational , Scientific and Cultural Organization and the federal culture ministry on the proposed policy for the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage.

Science and Technology Minister Hussain Ahmed Kanju would be the chiefguest and University of Engineering and Technology Vice-Chancellor Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gillani would apprise theparticipants of the cultural heritage of the NWFP, a press release issued on Saturday said.

Archeology and Museums Director Prof Ihsan Ali would talk aboutstrategies and requirements for the preservation of the heritage ofthe province, it said.

Archaeologists and professors of fine arts in the University of Peshawar would also speak, it said.

Chief Secretary Ejaz Ahmed Quraishi would be the chief guest in the second session, where the national coordinator of the cultural heritage project, Yasmeen Laree, would present the draft policy framework, it said. The participants would evolve a strategy on the heritage of the province, it said.
