Minister's challenge to jurists

By Our Correspondent

SARGODHA, Sept 8: Stressing that the president was not bound to shed his uniform by Dec 31, Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sher Afgan on Wednesday threw an open challenge to jurists and constitutional experts to debate the issue with him.

"If I fail to make my point, I will resign," he told newsmen at the local press club. He said the MMA had also accepted Musharraf in uniform during the process of vote of confidence.

Talking about the water crisis, Afgan said that Kalabagh Dam was dire need of the hour. He disclosed that General Pervez Musharraf was committed to announce the construction of the Kalabagh Dam within next month or so with the consensus of all provinces.

About the cabinet size, he said it would help ministers to show better performance and no minister would play in the hands of secretary or any bureaucrat. Afgan said he would follow rules of business in running the affairs of the assembly smoothly.
