KHAIRPUR, Sept 8: Activists of the Sindh Hari Committee took out a procession against the construction of Thal canal and Kalabagh dam in Thari Mirwah on Wednesday. Peasant leaders Tamachi Shar and comrade Wajud Ali Shar led the protesters.

Speaking on the occasion, they said the construction of the two water projects upstream would render Sindh lands barren and the people would be deprived of their livelihood.

DEMONSTRATION: A large number of residents of the town, led by leaders of the Shehri Ittehad and the Jagrita Forum, staged a demonstration against Hesco officials here on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, they said the officials were issuing detection bills even to mosques and madressahs. They said the officials were trying to cover line losses through detection bills.

BOOKED: A case was registered against some twenty people following a dispute on water distribution in Khanhwari area. Complainant Ali Nawaz Mehrani registered a case with the police station Khanhwari, Nara taluka, on Wednesday. Those nominated in the FIR include Kamil Rajpar, Laiq, Moharam, Moor, Ghulam Nabi, Arbab, Mithal, Ali Khan, Shahnawaz Rajpar and others.
